Hello! I know it has been quite some time since my last post and I don't really have any good excuses other than...well just life itself. It seems like so many things have been happening over the last couple months and with all the unexpected events and busyness I have neglected to sit down with my laptop and take the time to blog. Now that this long awaited moment has finally arrived (I know you have all been biting your nails awaiting my next post, lol), I have missed this late night time to myself and creative outlet which is much needed. There have been so many fun things and activities we've done over the last few weeks that I will definitely get around to posting about, especially the crafts and DIY projects we have found to be fun and successful. And since I'll be taking it back a little bit, I figured why not go way back just this once and show some of our older projects around the house from my pre-blog days. Enjoy!
~Chair make overs!
I found this old pair for $10 at a garage sale. They were so old and dirty, but nothing some sanding and new seat cushions couldn't fix. I was so excited about how they turned out and Catori adores the pink one of course. They have definitely become some of my favorite pieces in the house.

~Birthday Time!
I absolutely love decorating and throwing Catori's birthday parties! It's a chance for me to revisit my love for event planning (no party is to small for some extra tlc right?) and one of the other passions I have discovered I thoroughly enjoy, decorating. I am constantly in a state of inspiration as I spend more time in my home. I continually change and evolve the décor as new treasures seem to come in and out of our lives that represent our family and the love we share. It is so cool to see random pictures of us in our home over the last few years and see how much it has changed over time. I can look at each photo and tell you exactly where we were in life and what was happening to us simply by the art on the walls. But back to birthdays, I'll leave all that home décor for another post. I wanted to make some super cute decorations for her 1st birthday party ever. Just a couple of the things I made that year. Super easy and fun too!
Cupcake Toppers..
cupcake toppers
cut small diamond shapes out of scrapbook paper and glued to toothpick
cut 13 triangles out of canvas fabric
I found some old file folders and cut out the letters for Happy Birthday
I needed some fabric so I used some of Catori's old onsies that were to stained to give away but still had plenty of cute fabric left for the letters
I used an iron-on transfer to apply letters to the canvas flags I had cut out
I used the ties from the Pier 1 seat cushions from chairs I made (above) & sewed each flag to create banner
just to add a fun rustic look I sewed random vintage buttons at the bottom tip of each flag
These little canvas are probably 4x4 inch. I made these one day for Catori's room. So much fun!

We needed a curtain with a fun and bright print for my daughter's room that had some fun art on it. I found this fabric at Ikea and did a couple simple hems on each end and both sides. All I did really was make the hem at the top of curtain about 3 inches wide so that any standard curtain rod would fit through it. I kept the sides at 1/2 inch and the bottom about 1 inch or so. Nothing to complicated, just want it to look neat and clean.

On the same small canvas, I had Catori do a print of her hand and one of her foot on her 1st birthday. We all three love these. So cute!
